Ankata was a constructed language and the official interstellar auxiliary language of the Interstellar Planetary Coherence and its successor the Kammakan of Houses. Ankata was developed in [] TEC by a joint team of linguists, anthropologists, and biologists of several different species in an attempt to make a universal second language for the interstellar community.

Ankata included several different interchangeable components to its construction to suit the varied biologies of the interstellar community, including a number of verbal variations, both a standard and tactile writing system, several standardized sign structures, and variation that uses skin slaps and rubs to create sound. In order to maintain is stated purpose of universality, Ankata was highly simplified, containing only two vowels (a and o) and five consonants (k, l, n, t, and b). These sounds were chosen specifically be distinguishable from one another, so as to allow for their distinction when sounded by a breadth of species.
